vcd

  1. hi. is it possible to successfully put a 2 disk vcd movie to one disk without too much loss of quality? if so, what tools needed please

  2. yes...there will be much quality loss...keep in mind VCD is already really low quality...

    ---------

also, if you wanna keep standard specs....i.e. standard, compliant VCD...then you can only fit 80 min of video on 80-min CD-R....if you try to fit more by lowering the bitrate, you will be making non-standard, compliant xVCD....and DVD player compatibility will go down

    -------

however, if you insist on cramming as much as possible on 1 CD, then try www.kvcd.net

There will be a moderate to great quality loss and that depends upon the movie length. I was trying to rip a 139 minute movie to VCD and didn't want the hassle and waste of the second cd for just 20 minutes more.

    I found that:

    a) MY standalone player could play the (K)VCD but there was stuttering video and sound.
    b) The quality was not to MY acceptable limits - even for the VCD

I don't bother since then. I try to fill the second VCD with 'Extras' from the DVD.

perhaps, your player can't handle xVCDs then..

I also think that you may be right. My is an old model - Pioneer DV-K301C - purchased in 1999. But I don't want to let it go because:

    a) it is region-free
    b) with 3-disk changer
    c) PAL and NTSC - in-built conversion
    d) 110V/60Hz to 240V/50Hz
