  1. i've been having trouble converting a movie into a vcd, when i open it up in Virtual Dub it says that the movie using vbr encoding and that it needs to be converted to cbr.
What i want to know is how do i convert it and is there anyway to get it to convert while it's converting to vcd format i do i have to do them seperately.

thanks for any help with this

    Pogotc,

in VDub goto Audio -> Full Processing. Then goto Audio -> Compression and choose 'No Compression'. Then goto File -> Save Wav. This should save a wav file with the audio, this should be VERY big (~1Gb). You can then use this as the input into your VCD conversion programme (e.g. TMPGEnc).

You may not need to do this, you could just import into TMPGEnc - it should cope with the VBR audio.

    Good luck.

Is your original audio rate at 48? You'll need to resample to 44.1 for a vcd, otherwise standalones will not recognize the audio for a vcd.

  6. the original was at 48khz but according to TMPGEnc the audio is now at 44100

Does this mean i still need to re-encode the audio ??

I don't remember if tmpenc does the resampling, I use Besweet for that. If you do what Jukka says, it will work, but you need to change the sample rate from 48 to 44.1. TMP may do it, but you need to specify in the audio engine to change the sample rate.
