  1. i have just tried my first svcd and have encountered a few problems,
Firstly i split the avi using Vdub as it was too large for 1 disc , then i encoded both parts using tmpeg and after burning using nero ( is only program i can get to work on my system for some reason )
I tried both discs in a standalone dvd player , the first disc works fine but the second disc on playing, the sound is out of sync.
So i then tried to encode the whole film first , when i went to split the file to get on 2 discs using vdub , i get this error "mpeg import filter : pack synchronisation error.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can fix this ??
    all help greatly appreciated

  2. hi, i can relate. i was trying to encode and burn an svcd onto two disks, and the second disk is the trick. here is what worked for me...

the problem appears to be the lack of a "header", which is missing from the second half when you split an mpeg (vdub will not let you work it, cuase it is primarily for avi, not mpeg)

open tmpgenc and the wizard opens, on the 3rd step (of the 5), the top choice is source range. just choose to only encode the second half (from whereever the first left off), and wait another hour. it sucks, but it works.

about the sound, in vdub (with an avi), be sure to select audio --> interleaving --> set to interleave every 500 ms (not frames!!)

    i sugsest iswy's guide, http://iswy.com/dvd2divx/

also, i am new too, so i expect someone more experienced will tell me I, too, don't have it yet....
Kazaa? Never heard of it. Abracadabra!?!...no?
