  2. I'm not familiar with it but I think you want IfoEdit. I would wait for another response, too.

  3. Actually editing VOB files is not that easy, far easier to edit the source prior to authoring the VOB files (or encoding the MPEG2 stream for that matter).

You need to de-mux the VOB files to m2v+ac3, edit cut each (timing errors are possible) then join them back together, then re-author the VOB files. Once the new VOB files are authored you can use IFOUpdate to spilce them back into the original DVD VOB/IFO files.

What exactly are you trying to do and why? Because all things being equal it's best to edit the source, then encode to MPEG2, then author. The reverse is a pain in the a&&...

just rip the dvd in file mode with smartripper and use ifoedit to create new ifos

or you can use tmpgenc dvd author to take out unwanted scenes

If the part you want to remove is on a chapter or vobu boundary
you can use ifoedit to actually change the PGC jump
instructions in the IFO file to jump over the unwanted part
rather than deleting it. This takes about 10 seconds.
I do it for FBI warnings etc.
