  1. Yes the newer generation drives can write DVD-RAM at 2x, but there is error checking in the background which slows the process down. The final reslut is that it takes almost a hour to fill the entire disc with data. Anyone that has a DVD-RAM drive can verify this, using file explorer just drag 4.3gb of data to your DVD-RAM disc and time how long it takes.

    The new Sony drives can wrote DVD-RW at x, and it only takes a minute to erase a DVD-RW disc. True you can't drag and drop data to the DVD-RW drive, but you can use Nero or oany other authoring program
