  1. if i have a mpg1 file, can i convert it to a mpg2(svcd) using lsx-mpeg.

    I am not sure that this is possible with LSX-mpeg, but it can be done with TMPGEnc. To make an SVCD compliant MPEG-2 file, the source (MPEG-1) movie must have the correct frame-rate (25Hz for PAL or 24 or 30 Hz for NTSC).

  3. Q: Why do you want to do this? The quaility will not be any better, in fact re-encoding it will cause a quaility hit.

    At the same bitrate and resolution there's no quaility difference between MPEG1 and MPEG2. The real advantage of MPEG2 over MPEG1 is that MPEG2 supports: interlacing, multiple audio tracks, multiple angles, subtitles, etc. etc.
