  1. Hi , I have DVD burner and the DVD 4.5GB is the media I can only find.
    Is there any DVD disc with bigger capacity so I can copy DVD master or record more data that 4.5 GB.

    Will my Pioneer burner use that 4.5 GB bigger DVD

  2. You can only use 4.5GB discs on any DVD burner.
    You can also buy double sided discs which give the same capacity as a DVD 9 but these are way too expensive and more likely to be scratched than single sided discs.

    DVD 9's are the Hollywood-made disc preferred medium which is "dual-layer" (2 layers of 4.5GB on one side of a disc) but because of the way these work it is impossible for any burner to write dual-layers.

  3. In a word...no.

    But, You can get a dual sidded DVD disk.

    Glossary

    DVD-10 is a double sided single layer DVD which can fit up to 8.7 computer GB. Video DVD, DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W supports this format.
    Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  5. DVD5 = single-sided, single-layer

    DVD9 = single-sided, dual-layer

    DVD10 = double-sided, single-layer

    DVD18 = double-sided, double-layer

    ------------------

    technically, DVD-R/+R is 4.38 GB or 4489 MB.

    when DVD-R/+R say 4.7 GB, it isn't the same as a computer GB

    so, to convert "their" GB to computer GB, we need to

    4,700,000,000 B / 1024 = 4589843.75 KB / 1024 = 4482.27 MB / 1024 = 4.37 GB

    note: there is rounding....
    ------------

    all DVD-R/+R will be single-layer DVD5 4.38 GB. those double-sided, single-layered DVD-R/+R is basically just a separate DVD5 on each side....it's NOT the same as a dual-layered DVD9 discs.....

    so, you can NOT just do a straight copy (minus CSS encryption, of course ) from a dual-layer DVD9 to a double-sided, single-layered DVD-R/+R...you will still need to split the DVD9 to 2 DVD5 discs, using DVDXCOPY or DVDFAB.

    -------

    @arvin,

    so, if you enounter a DVD9 (or DVD18, which is basically a DVD9 on each side...which can basically be treated separately), you either

    1) split to 2 DVD5 discs with DVDXCOPY or DVDFAB

    or

    2) compress it down to fit on 1 DVD5: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024
