  1. I would be greatful if some users can post there tweaked up settings for converting to VCD in mainconcept .It seems most guides I find are kinda vanilla compared to some TMPGEnc guides .Also is there anywhere you can download profiles for mainconcept like you can templates for TMPGEnc? .I would realy like to stick with this encoder mainly because of its speed and time issues on my pc.

    Thank You

I use and love MainConcept, the speed with quality makes it a revolutionary product. Where I used to encode all night, I now can do it during dinner and I am very happy with the quality.

I also am a beta tester for the new 1.4 version that will be out shortly that offers two pass, but I tell you, they have improved the one pass and for me, the quality of the one pass is so strong, I will probably stay with it and save an hour over my encoding.

When you get to VCD with any encoder, there are limitations on what you can do because of the rules of VCD.

I might help to understand the rules of compliant VCD which are posted on this site https://www.videohelp.com/vcd .

To make compliant VCD (MPEG1), there is not much wiggle room I mean for PAL , this is it
    1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
    352 x 288 pixels
    25 frames/second

For NTSC, it is this Video:
    1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
    352 x 240 pixels
    29,97 frames/second
    23,976 frames/second NTSC Film

The good thing about the restrictions around VCD is that it is extremely compatible with stand alone DVD players and the like. So the lessoned flexibility has some benefits.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions about Main Concept.

  3. Hi thank you for the reply, speed is the main reason I realy like this program .I have a certain time of the day I can encode on my pc if im not on it chances are someone else will be .When i follow some of the guides for TMPGEnc the encoding time is usually 10 to 16 hours .If i change some of the settings for better quality thats recommended by some of the users here it goes up 24 to 30 hours that amount of time is just not possible for me .Thats why im hoping some users will post there tweaked up settings for VCD conversion in mainconcept .I assume the quality can be improved over the default settings you get when you convert to VCD in mainconcept .That's where im lost I cant seem to figure any of them on my own its just to bad you can't get profiles to make it a little easier for newbies like myself.
