  1. I do all my capturing in Pinnacle 8 (since Nero 6 doesn't see my DC10Plus Pinnacle Capture Card). I want to then go directly to Nero 6 to do all my editing amd burning to DVD.
My question is: after capturing in Pinnacle, do I convert to an AVI or MPEG? Nero 6 can see an AVI or MPEG, but not the file Pinnacle created after capturing (.STU).
    Any help appreciated!!!

  2. Captured video using Studio 8 is AVI. The DC10Plus Pinnacle Capture Card can only be seen by Studio 8 so capturing can only be done by Studio 8 or Scenalyzer. Studio 8 has some very nice and easy to use tools for editing, rendering, authoring and burning to disk. Why are you taking the long way around?

  3. I have a DC10+ also. I have found I can capture with iuvcr fine. Then with an appropriate mjpeg codec installed (I use PicVideo but I think Morgan works also), you can edit the output avi file in any reasonable application (tmpgenc works okay)

That STU file is a Studio Project File that contains within all the information including clip times, where clips/transitions belong, etc. In your >My Documents>Pinnacle Studio>Captured Video directory you should find the captured video files. These (with Studio 8 ) will either be AVI or MPEG. You can select whether you want AVI or MPEG in the Studio 8 capture screen.

Try reading the manual you got with Studio. It is very helpful and will certainly help you in what you are trying to do.

  5. Thanks for your replies.
To clear up a matter with Pinnacle-it's not the best around. Just look at the forum and you'll find many, many complaints regarding its lack of ability to do a final burn to VCD, SVCD and especially DVD. The vast majority on the forum do their final burning using NERO. Now that NERO just came out a few weeks ago with a version that is capable of capturing as well as editing and burning, I feel like doing as much as possible with NERO.
