  1. I capture TV programs using Snapstream, edit them with Womble and end up with MPEG2 DVD compatible output files. I also create files captured from a DC10+ and converted using tmpgenc to DVD compatible files. I have just found one strange behavior. Authored two mpeg files from Snapstream and Womble using DVD Movie Factory - files show up in DVD MF as 720x575 (PAL) aspect ratio and author and burn fine. But when played on my DVD player (as well as PowerDVD) they are 16:9 - show up as widescreen images. A check of the video_ts.ifo file using ifoedit shows that the AR is indeed 16:9 which is really strange. Files that have come from the DC10+ via tmpgenc and then authored using DVD MF have the right AR. Anybody ever experience this? It's really strange and I don't know what settings to change to fix it apart from having DVD MF create the video_ts directory and not burn and I fix the video_ts.ifo file using ifoedit before burning which is a bit tedious

    Thanks

  2. Never mind - seems to be a one off problem. I re-authored the DVD and saved the video_ts files. Checked both video_ts.ifo and vts_01_0.ifo and both showed the video as being 16:9 for some reason. Fixed it in ifoedit and once the files were burnt using Nero, the video plays back in 4:3 format. Captured and authored another video and using the same process, the output format is 4:3 with no fiddling - go figure!

Sounds like you fixed the issue on your own.

  3. Yes I did - it was fairly obvious. The question I had was, had anybody ever experienced this before? Certainly there are no settings in DVD MF that tell you that you are authoring a 16:9 movie nor in tmpgenc so I wonder how it got set that way. And I wasn't able to reproduce the problem
