  1. Just downloaded an mpg movie file. The file can be playback in WMP but can't fast forward or skip the movie. In the WMP's property dialog box it said MPEG4 codec.

Tried most video fixer software but to no luck because most of them can only fix *.avi extension - not *mpg.

Any one can help me or suggest anything to me?

    Thanks

  3. Have installed PowerDVD but the player can't play the file. It come out with some message and refused to even start the movie.
WMP still can play it - only it can't fast forward.

Try setting your video hardware acceleration to MAX.

Probably it isn't an MPG file at all, but a WMV file using MPEG4 that's been renamed.

Let it play once all the way through, and then you can scan through it as you like. Kind of irritating though, I admit.

I recall someone had a program/filter/etc. at one point to "unlock" WMV files that hadn't been 100% spooled. It was a beta feature on Sasami2k before that project went belly-up.
