Error with Nero's re-encoders

I get errors with both the mpeg and mpeg2 reencoders when using nero to make standard compliant discs. It goes for a while (a long while with mpeg2), and then before it finishes I get the error. So far no reply from ahead, so I am wondering if anyone else has worked their way through a similar problem. I don't think it's an mpeg2 problem as the regular mpeg re-encoding doesn't work either. Thanks.

What exactly are you re-encoding?

I've been trying to reencode higher rate MPEG1 down to VCD specs (same res), and also MPEG2 at 352 X 480 down to both SVCD or VCD compliant. I believe I read that Nero's SVCD reencodes to 352 X 480 anyway, which is also the res of my capture device. I have not tried to reencode an AVI, but Nero is supposed to be able to fix the mpgs so I don't think that's the problem.
