This is the best software out
You can do anything with it
Imports ac3
Makes ac3
The only thing odd is if you use SONIC FOUNDRY's companion product
VEGAS 3.0, you need to upgrade the TEMPLATES
as the template that says DVD NTSC VIDEO STREAM will not import into ARCHITECT ..
If you get 4.0 its fixed, but to use 3.0 to make clips for the ARCHITECT
you must add an audio stream that is silent, and output the AUDIO FROM YOUR PROJECT as a 48K wave instead..
In 4.0 its a simple matter of selecting DVD ARCHITECT VIDEO STREAM
and all the MARKERS you used in the VEGAS timeline are converted to CHAPTERSTOPS automatically
ARCHITECT makes motion menus easily

In THAT respect TOMMO boy...

Only thing that people can say other programs will do that this don't
(IF YOU WORK PRO at THIS) is it won't do dual layer master
WHICH you can't make at home anyway cause you gotta store it on a 9.4 gig surface (LIKE A D.L.T. extra wide backup tape drive)
My older SONIC productions(in DVDit), in power dvd for some reason the timeline acess was prohited on certain discs I authored..
NOW WITH SONIC FOUNDRY DISC this is no problem in authoring (it just default to being totally navigatable intuitively) -
yeah thanks man..
Just did a VHS-->Canopus-->Vegas4-->DVD Architect1-->DVDR
With a result that looks and sounds better than the orgingal VHS!!!!
BUT....
On fast movement i get wavey lines... can i fix this???Take it from the Champs,

hardcore
I thought you had a specific question about the program not a sales write up, and I am not your boy.
With respect to the wavy lines in fast movement, the field order is incorrect when encoding to mpeg. Try changing it to LOWER field - or if already that, UPPER. You might need to experiment a bit to get it write.TOMMO -
I'm trying to author my home made video. I'm running into problem with it. When I click on 'MakeDVD', it always wants to render the video. Does anyone know how to disable the rendering function?
Thanks

you probably can't 'disable' the render function...chances are that if it's trying to (re)render your video, then it may not think it's DVD compliant...how did you render the video that dvda is trying to re-render?

Big problem with DVD-A in my opinion is that you can't set end actions for different clips on the disc (each clip will return to menu at end) unlike, e.g., DVD Workshop that lets you choose return to menu or play next clip.

I also don't like the fact that I can't have more control over navigation with DVD Architect. Thats why I went back to Sonic PE.
I don't like that I can't put end actions, next options, can't link movies to text directly, must use sub-meu and that just adds another object that is not necessary. But like I said, its very restrictive with user control over allowing links between what I want. By the way, if some knows how to add a link from my text to the movie, then please, let me know how. (once user clicks on text, the movie just starts) I don't want to write "movie one", then add submenu which brings up an object(graphic) I don't need just to get the movie to start, and then not even continue with next movie in sequence. -
Linking to a movie with out an image is easy. Just drag the video onto the stage and set it as TEXT only not TEXT AND IMAGE.
Easy.
