  1. Hello,

I've been searching all over the web for an answer for this problem and still haven't found one. So maybe someone knows it.

I was noticing when I play mp3s I've got a 'pop' sound. When I play other files like avis the music is normal. Before I didn't have that problem but lately like 30% have that weird sound. And music that sounded normal (I have some old mp3s in my computer) and now when I play them some have that annoying sound.

    please help

    thanx

Maybe your speakers/sound card are on the blink, but the sound that comes out of your movies is quieter than the mp3s? Or your software is dodgy, hard discs have had the DMA mode turned off, you're playing them from an MP3CD that's badly scratched

i had this problem actually. after installing some codec pack (nimo?) i found media player 6.X couldn't play back some of my MP3's properly. media player 7.X would, but, it would refuse to play some tracks entirely.

I tried uninstalling -every- audio codec i had. i tried reinstalling media player, and installing the mp3 codec i was using on another machine with no problems. media player would not use the new codec and continued to use the broken one. a reformat and reinstall of windows followed.....

  5. Thank you all for your replies.
I play my mp3s with windows media player 7. And I've tried using powerdvd and realaudio. With powerdvd i have that problem too but using realaudio the sound is normal. I want to use windows media player as my default player cos realaudio isn't very stable on my computer.
Now you mention it I think most likely it's because I've dl a few month back a new codec.
I'm gonna try to uninstall that and see if it works.

    thanx again
