    I've got a 730MB movie that I can't fit on a CD.

Yes, I know 700MB CD can hold more (have saved dozens of other 700+ movie files), but this file won't save.

Have also tried overburning with Nero, but unsuccessful on my drive.

So, looking for simplest program to resize/reduce this AVI file. Is there an easy program that allows you to specify desired output size, without having to do a lot of manual specifications regarding file output?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  2. What format is this movie in (avi, divx, mpeg, etc) and what are your trying to burn it as (data disc, vcd, svcd, etc). It makes a difference.

However, resolution (re-sizing) has NO EFFECT on file size. Resolution effects video quaility only. Size is a matter of bitrate and runtime only.

The easiest thing to do is cut off part of the movie (end credits?). Other wise you hav to re-encode at a lower bitrate to fit everything on one disc.

    I think he meant RE-FILE-SIZE
    which we could help
if as the poster asked, WHAT KIND OF FILE IS IT?

If you don't know, download this, it'll tell you what kind of file you've got
    gspot codec appliance...

    Thanks guys.

It's a tight squeeze as it is I'm afraid - no credits or anything to cut. I'm sure it's intended to squeeze on to one disc, probably with overburn, but my system just won't do it.

All I'm trying to do is save the AVI as an AVI on a data CD.

Here's the specs on the file from G-Spot:

    VIDEO
    Four CC: div3
    Codec: DivX 3 Low-Motion
    Aspect: 640x272 (2.353:1)
    Frame/Sec 25.000 FPS
    Duration 02h02m17s

    AUDIO
    Encoding: MP3
    Avg Bitrate 96kb/s CBR

Says it was done with VirtualDub build 11583.

I'm pretty much a novice at video editing, so if there is a solution to get the file size down from the current 730MB to maybe 715MB (?) for a 700MB disc.

    Thanks,
    Jeff
