  1. I am new to this program still, and am wondering if there is a way to retain the chapter divisions on the original dvd when burning to vcd, so it's not one big long movie. Also, if a dvd is longer than one vcd disc, will forty two divide it up respectively?

No, there is not. But...if you use VCD Builder to burn your movie, you can add chapter markers there.

it should. if it fails to do this, just use mpgtx to split the movie.

  3. Ok, I downloaded VCD builder, and it won't accept bin/cue files. How do I split up the movie if the DVD goes straight to the computer as bin/cue files?

  4. VCD Builder will only accept mpg files. use vcdtoolsX to extract the mpg from the bin file. then use vcd builder to add a menu, add chapters and rebuild the images.

here is a short tutorial i wrote for vcd builder:

  5. Thanks! Just what I was looking for! I'm chaptering a music DVD, so the songs will be off a bit on the disc as I couldn't exactly get the right time, but at least it's chaptered. If anyone out there knows of another Mac program that is a bit more specific, I'd like to know. Now I have another problem (maybe this WILL end up to be forty two questions ) I ripped a two hour long DVD with 42 and it split it up into two discs, as expected. Unfortunately, the first bin file is 802 or so megs, which I believe is too much to fit on a CDr. Can anyone help me remedy this situation? Thanks in advance.

  6. actually, it should fit on a 700 mb cd-r. you can fit up to 805 mb (i think). have you tried burning it?

oh...another thing anout vcd builder. you can expand the window and that will stretch out the timeline, allowing you to be a bit more specific with your chapter markers.
