    Here's my question. I'm burning the vcd's I've converted with Nero.

    I convert using tempeng and follow the intructions. Though when I put them on my dvd player it only plays the vid. but no audio.

    Its an offbrand general electric dvd player. To convert am I going to have to use avi/dvd to first extract the audio and then encode again following that procedure?

    I havent found the reason for that as I'm following all the instructions correctly. Maybe a little more searching is needed but answer this if you have the time.

    My second question is a simple one. Is vcd and mpeg 1(2) the same thing? Is vcd just the format and mpeg-1 the codec? I've cotten confused here.
    What... do what??

  2. After you make the MPEG in TMPGEnc, play it in Media Player and make sure you have sound.

    I would suggest using VCDEasy to actually make the VCD instead of Nero.

    VCDs are MPEG1
    SVCD/CVD/DVD MPEG2

    Click on the Comparisons link to the left.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author
