  1. I know there are those out there like me who would like good quality SVCD's and I have been tweaking with the settings and come up with the following results:
    Using 80 minute cd's
    Video : Mpg 2
    Size : 480 X 480
    Rate Control Mode: CBR
    Bit Rate: 2500
    Quality: High Quality
Stream Type: Mpg1 Audio Layer 2
    Sampling Frequency: 48000
    Channel Mode: Stereo
    Bit Rate: 384

With these settings I have found a good medium with 32 minutes of actual movie time and the quality is really good once again this is what I like and I am not telling u to use it, in my opinion I don't care how many cd's it takes just as long as the quality is good. u can fit 35 minutes on a cd if u reduce the audio bit rate to 224

  2. Good quality and 2400 kb/s ??? ))))

Use VBR, 0 minimum, 1600 average, 3200 maximum for video. You have about 70 minutes on one 90min CD. And, moving scenes beats your 2400 CBR. 2400 is simply not enough and for slow scenes is wasting of space. You have 4 CD, I have two and better quality.

wolfdog724: 2400 is plenty but its a waste to do it in cbr. If you used vbr and dropped your average some then you could get just as good a quality svcd and it would never be larger than 3 cdrs and would often fit on only 2. You should not use 48kHz for audio, your dvd player might play it but who knows if the next dvd player you buy will. 384 is too high for audio, 224 will give you just as good a quality.

vlk3: I personally feel that 1600 average is way too low for svcd and most people will run into lots of playback problems with max bitrate above ~2.7mbits or so.

I use 4pass in CCE and use 300 min, 2000 avg and 2400 max as suggested by someone on this board and I get about 45-48 minutes per 80 minute CD-R. I am quite satisfied with this method and the results in my opinion are more than acceptable.

  5. I put saving private ryan (2 hours 53 min) on 2 cd's and it looks decent. The 90 minutes of svcd I put on one cd looks better than my 45 minutes of vcd on one cd.
