  1. Using nero to copy (S)VCDs it will occasionally drop the Read CD Speed to 12x even when reading from 40x media. Its not a major problem but its a bit frustrating when I have to wait longer to read a CD than burn one. Anyone now a fix for this. At the time of writing its just done it again

40X media is rated to be BURNED max at 40X. it makes no mention how fast it can be read. cheaper media may have less reflective surface, and thus are harder...and slower to be read.

btw, you doing a 1:1 direct copy?

Sorry, the read speed doesn't drop when I start the burn but under copy options it seems to set itself to 12x, I can change it upto 32 then burn but sometimes I forget and it reads at 12x. I was wondering if there was a way to set it to max or 32x as default

well I am doing a copy of a cd yes - but not on the fly, my other drive is an old dvdrom with slow read speeds so i dont bother.
