  1. I just plugged my camcorder (Sony DC TRV-25) to my firewire port (on my Creative Audigy PCI SoundCard) and it intially detected it. After a restart, windows no longer detects the firewire port as it is listed in the "device manager" with a yellow exclamation mark saying...

    device type

    IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers

    Manufacturer
IEEE 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller Vendor

    Location
PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 0, device 13, function 2)

    Device Status

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

any ideas how i can get windows to correctly detect the port or a link for drivers that i could try.

any help would be much appreciated

  2. Put your audigy install cd in the cdrom.
Go through device manager again and rightclick and update the drivers.
Let it try searching automaticly for it.
Pick the CD-ROM option as to where to search.
This will install any last needed drivers to complete and have your firewire working.

Or if there is an option for installing firewire through the CDs autostart window when you pop the CD in.

    thanks for the reply
i did actually try this the 1st time round
but i just fixed it after you posted your reply

nothing was working, so i moved my Creative Audigy to another PCI slot, booted my pc so that windows thought everything moved, then without installing, shut down. moved the pci card back, but the audigy disc in, when windows booted, it recognised the 1394 firewire port and im now capping from my camcorder
