I ripped my first dvd a few days ago using dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. In DVD Shrink I set the menu and extras to be still pictures so I could have the best quality I could on the movie. I burned it using Nero in UDF mode 1.02 following this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127624

When I try to watch it on my Sony DVP-S360 set top player, I put the disc in, the screen goes black until I hit the DVD Menu button on my DVD player to make the menu come up. The menu comes up, but the sound that is supposed to be with it does not play and the picture doesn't move at all like it should. I can navigate through the menu but when I try to play the extra features, they don't work either so I think there is some kind of problem with everything that I set to be in still pictures using dvd shrink because the movie itself plays with no problems.

    Could someone help?

If you want quality for the main movie use reauthor mode and select the largest title, forget the extras.

Thanks for the tip tompika, I didn't even know you could do that. And Thayne, I watched it on my computer and the parts that were set to be still pictures played fine and with sound, it just looked like a slide show or something. I was just wondering if there was a different way I could burn it or something so that maybe the parts with still pictures would work on my set top, or could there be a problem with my set top?

  5. The problem may be that it's not truly DVD compliant. If the movie plays correctly then your DVD player is working, it just may not support stills.

I never do that (make it to still pics) so I'm just guessing.
