  1. Okay...so, yesterday, the damn dog ate some of my Sopranos episodes...today, he ate my newest Xbox game (NCAA Football 2004). I have never thought of this, but is it possible to backup Xbox games in a DVD Writer and then play them in the Xbox (I do realize that there is a good chance that even if these backups can be made, that you will need a modchip)?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

you can use a program called Undisker to make an exact .iso image of the disc. then just burn it to DVD-R. but you will have to make sure 1) the source was infact DVD 2) there is enough room on the target DVD-R. Then just burn with nero or Record now. but yes, you will need a modchip. xbox modchips are the easiest to install of all modchips and there are many online stores to get them. try http://www.reversetools.org/xbox_modchip/ to start

  4. So, how can you assure that the source is DVD? And I'm assuming that as with DVD backups, any backup you do will need to be less than 4.36GB?

  5. You should put your disks where the dog cant get to them!

You will definitly need a mod chip to play backed up games. I have been thinking of doing this too cause my kids act like these disks grow on trees. I'm constantly telling them to put them back in the case when they are done. My Halo disk is very scratched, but it still works for now. I'd like to be able to back them up then lock up the originals so they actually last longer than 6 months...

  6. all XBOX games are on dual layered DVD's. just run dvdDecrypter and you will see. I think the only way to make backups is to FTP to your XBOX with your PC. and for that you need a modchip first. Im not sure how it all works, but I think thats part of it.

  7. You would never think that a stupid puppy could climb the couch and have the balls to jump on top of the entertainment center where the Sopranos and Xbox games are...oh well, my own fault.

Anyways, can anyone offer suggestions on where to buy chips that don't require sodering, how to install them, a more detailed guide on backing up games, etc.?

    Thanks in advance

  9. Yes, I did what you wrote, but I had some more questions that you didn't seem to answer. Also, the Xbox site you sent to had some information, but I was looking for a more "pesonal" reflection on how these things work.

Just seeking more info, no need to be snippy.

  11. Yes, this site is the best for this topic. You will have to get a mod chip (there are multiple solderless types) in order to backup games and play them. Post above was correct, you will FTP to the Xbox from your PC, create an ISO, then burn with Nero (or whatever). I hear most games are fairly small but some are over 4.38GB so you must copy them to the HD (you can upgrade this too with a mod chip).

Backing up directly to your HD is probably the best route if you don't have too many games. You can put a 120GB in and hold maybe 40 games. They would load much faster also. You will need to disable your mod chip before going on Xbox Live! or you will be banned for life. Well, your Xbox will so you would have to buy a new one or a clean EEPROM.

If you get a modchip you can install evolutionx (i belive it's called that) and that allows you to copy your games to your xbox hard drive. it also speeds up load times because your xbox hard drive is faster that the dvd-rom.

  16. my xbox is chipped with the executer 2 lite which is absolutely amazing. i also told the guy to load the software to my xbox once he was done modding. with the software that he installed i can watch divx, ogg, avi with ac3 sound. just about any type of media u can think on the xbox. all i do is burn like a whole season of family guy onto a dvd-r media and load up the xbox media player and whalla...im sitting in my couch watching back to back episodes. this sofware also acts like a dvd ripper. all u do is load up the software and ur game as well onto ur xbox tray and in two simple steps u can have ur entire game saved on ur xbox HDD. i have a 137GB HDD on my xbox so im still backuping up games onto it. if u need ur xbox modded i suggest u go to my friends site at internationalgamingworld.com he is the best in the business with the cheapes prices around!!

Perhaps you can ask your Friend to return the money he stole from me then?

Also this is a warning, do not go to international gaming world.

  19. With undisker you can copy also dvd games for xbox without ftp, cable crossed etc?You need only a mod chip to read the copy?
The first layer of xbox games contains the protection and the second the games?[/list]

  20. let me answer ur questions.

    1. there is no way that a pc can read xbox games with any dvd rom or dvd burner. this is why u need to either ftp the game using a crossover cable, connecting it to a hub or router, or u can dump the game straight from the disc tray to the xbox's HDD with a few simple clicks.

    2. yes u need a modchip to play all xbox backups. u also need the modchip to be able to use software on ur xbox. and finally u need a modchip if u want to upgrade ur original xbox HDD to a 137GB HDD.

3.i dont know if the first layer contains the game's protection. but i do know that the game is in encrypted and thats why pc drives cannot read the disc. and all xbox games are pressed on dual layered dvd media.

    i hope this helps

  21. Search the forum for 'xbox'....

    They are in Xfat format.

Write to a -r disk, frankly its alot easier to just buy them already done from someone who already used the ftp method.
