I cannot seem to get windows to recognise my canon xm1 camera.
Should I try plugging in the camera before I load up the computer...you know what computa's are like.
Perhaps someone knows where I can drivers that will allow the computer to recognise it.
Or, similarly, perhaps there is something I need to alter on the control panel.
I've tried several things to no avail, so any tips would be really, really grateful.

Might seem like a silly question but you have swithched the camera on. I am assuming you are connecting via firewire.

yes its via firewire, and yes i turned the camera on.
However i am at work now, and i have thought today that maybe i should turn the camera on before i turn on the cam. I never turned the camera on until i plugged it in.
