  1. HI i have a dvd burner and a cd burner. I also have lots of avi and mpg movies on my computer.

i use nero 6 and can never put a movie on 2 cd's it seams i have to join the two avi's that are under 800 megs and then split them into 3 parts Why is this?

Also can i put my avi or mpg's on a dvd it would be much easer then joing and splitting ? If so what program do i use and how?

    Thanks alot

  2. you can only burn .avi files as DATA CD-R...which means each 80-min CD-R can only hold 700 MB...this is mode 1 burning.

    -------

however, if you were to burn in mode 2 to (S)VCD, then you can fit 800 MB on a 80-min CD-R.

however, you need to convert your .avi into (S)VCD .mpg files.

    --------

    links...

if you have a SVCD MPEG-2 file (.mpg extension), you can burn directly to SVCD CD-R: https://www.videohelp.com/nerosvcd.htm

you can also burn SVCD MPEG-2 file (.mpg extension) on a DVD without converting to DVD compliant MPEG-2....you will be creating a SVCD-DVD. keep in mind SVCD-DVD is NOT as compliant with DVD players as a standard DVD with DVD compliant MPEG-2: https://www.videohelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

you can also convert your files (whether it be SVCD MPEG-2 .mpg, VCD MPEG-1 .mpg, DIVX or xVID MPEG-4 .avi) to DVD compliant MPEG-2 and burn as standard, compliant DVD with the highest DVD player compatibility you can achieve.
