  1. Hi, I have been haveing a problem for ever now. I can't burn vcds out of mpeg files. I run a imac, and use toast 5. When ever I put mpeg file into the toast program I get a message that says the file can't be used, because "it contanes a mpeg data in an unsuported format".

Well I have never found a mpeg file that will work. How ever I can get avi files to work. Avi files seem to be the only kind of files I can encode to vcd format.

Also I was reading through this mac forum, and heard people say to use tmpeg and virtual dub. What good does that do on a mac? Is there a tmpeg and virtual dub program for mac?

Anyways, I still don't get why I can't use any mpeg files to make a vcd, can anyone help with that?

  2. if toast doesn't accept your mpg is because they're not VCD compliant. To convert them to compliant mpgs you have different options :

If your MPG is totally out of compliance you need to re-encode it with:
    - Cleaner 5 (on mac) and convert to "MPG-1 Video CD"; or
    - TMPGenc (on PC, or Virtual PC; there is no mac version)

If your MPG is near compliant you can try VCDGear with MPG->MPG conversion and the Toast compliant option, or use TMPGenc to demux and remux to MPG-1 VCD.
