Hi

Currently using:

NEC 1300a RW
Philips 880 DVD recorder.

The recordings i make from the philips i burn onto DVDRW.

Basically what im wanting to do is to take the dvdrw recording, into my computer, Clip the noise from the edges and sides (is that a good idea, or is it best left in?) + colour edits, saturation etc. Then i want to author it to a DVD+R.

In the past ive been used to mpgs, but not M2vs and certainly not AC3.

How do i clip the video, but keep the video bitrate the exact same and audio AC3 and author onto DVD.

When i rip the m2v and ac3 to my harddrive, i can open the m2v in tmpgenc but then i have to choose a bitrate to enocde the video to...But i want to keep it the exact same. How do i know what the bitrate is on a dvd ive recorded + the res sizes etc? How do i keep it the same when i edit it in tmpgenc, when all i want to do is to clip/crop the video?

Whats better AC3 or Mp2 audio?

Im used to opening an MPG into virtual dub and cutting out all the adverts etc- how is that possible with seperate streams? the audio wouldnt be cut the exact same.

what software allows me to author a dvd using M2v and AC3?

What are the alternatives and quickest routes for me?

Thanks

KJ
