  1. I'm having fun reading your posts, some people fire nero because it's buggy and make coasters,
one bug (for me it's not a big bug because you have a warning message) and this is the worst soft ever made.
    So don't use windows

For those who use the root directory as a temp folder : this is a big big mistake. Nero wipe the directory if you don't pay attention, you've find this bug because you use nero, some other softwares do . Just try under dos : format c: or del c:\*.* you will have a warning message and if you agree you've wiped your disk.

Of course, they can patch the soft, but computers are not as simple. If you are not careful, you can do foolish things.
My advice : read all the windows appearing on your screens and try to understand the consequences if you answear yes or no

This is a kind of interesting discussion re Nero's failings (but defense, could you please stop ranting, it ain't helping anyone).

I picked up a comment that Nerovision Express just doesn't work, but then someone else suggested it worked fine.

The only thing I've tried to use it for, writing a pic slideshow to a VDC, failed utterly, even when I tried writing ti to an image recorder. I do not have the MPEG" encoder plug in, (I'll wait till the prog works at all, first, beofore paying for it) but I shouldn't need that for mpeg 1, for VCD.

    It crashes out every time.

I upgraded to Nero 6 because I had been happy with Nero 5, 5.5 etc. However I'm not so happy now. The Smartstart thing is a pain in the bum, and I might dump it. Wave editor has most of the options missing, so you can't actually edit, and has been commented, Nerovison don't work.

I've dumped the Nero Media player, as it had managed to disable Windows media player, so I could no longer just whack in a music CD and play it. I didn't want to use the Nero player for music, as every time I change a track, it asks if I want to delete the previous playlist. Damn annoying.

I'm OK with the DVD player thing, so far, and Nero itself seems fine.

    Apart from that I'm happy........

    Old School.

    Nero 6 needs work.
I love Nero 5.5 and I'm a big supporter of Ahead.
    But Nero 6?
They should know better. I think their beta testers need replacing.

One bug----read again, my friend, it's seven at once.

Does it seem firing? NicW was just being objective.

And don't get me wrong, I got Nero5.5.10.42 and RecordNow DX installed, and I use them both.

I'll be waiting till Nero6 gets fixed about ten times and maybe upgrade then.

  5. I've been using Nero and Easy CD Creator for sometime now. My fav is Nero... more control. Hey, opinions differ. But as far as verion 6's go... EZCD is the better of the two. BTW, software will always have bugs. Its just a matter of deciding which ones you can live with. This one in Nero 6 however is unacceptable. If you've got a version of any burning software and it works for you, works for your burner... no need to shell out hard earned beer money and upgrade.

One other note about Nero 6... I tried the demo and found it a bit to 'intrusive'. It installed everywhere! Didn't seem like I could pick what I wanted to install or NOT install. Oh well, shouldn't expect much from a demo.
