I always thought it funny that the controls for warning and bans appear even on Baldricks post, guess that answers my questions about if it would do anything. Guess I'll cancel "operation board swipe".

From what I could see this poor bastard posted in the wrong section, okay, he was dumb to do it and how he managed to do it I'll never know (hell, we're not all degree educated, working as, hmm, plucking something out of the air here, a doctor perhaps?) but to get a yellow for it?
Man!
My point is it was harsh, I've seen far worse (for example, good old gmatov turns almost every topic into one with a political theme. Now, I like George, and hell - he'll agree that half the time he expects a yellow but I've seen people yellowed for policital threads before).
Hopefully the more established members/moderator's will note that I'm trying to discuss this topic, I'm not attacking anyone and I'm not trying to be specific (even though I was referring to one thread in particular) to one thread, my point is simple....
....there doesn't appear to be much balance in the issuing of yellow cards.
Simple
Hell, one moderator even told me he didn't feel enough was being issued!!!
What happened to a degree of common sense, whereupon a memeber (particulaly the newer members) would be pointed in the right direction, rather than stained with a yellow and quite possibly put off the site?
But what's the point, certain memebers will always percieve me as stirring up trouble, but what can I do?

Where is it Will? If that's the reason he got the card, I'll remove it.

Will you have to understand that unless you tell us what threads you are talking about we cannot even begin to address your concern. I have not noticed any threads being locked without a reason, where appropriate. I have not noticed anyone recieve a warning for posting in the wrong forum or even for blatant cross posting. As far as I'm concerned, yes, more yellow cards DO need to be issued out. If anything we are being overcautious with the warnings. Unless you actually show us instances in which you think the wrong decision was made, we can't help you.
Keep in mind also that we have a closed topic forum which only the moderators can see. We only move posts there that the users truly won't miss, ie: duplicate posts, posts removed at the request of the poster etc....
What may look like a single stray post to you as a user, may in fact be one of 10 or so blatant cross posts, and unless you saw it before one of the moderators got to it, you'd never know. -
Well I'm at ends Will. I don't feel that a formal warning was needed, but I can also see that it was kinda breaking the rules. I personally would have just told him to watch for it next time. I thought you meant a topic he created was just in the wrong place.....hmmmm....perhaps a mod group huddle is need on this.

Do you understand my point?
Like I say, it's at the end of the complaints thread.
Ironically, I posted that it was in the wrong forum (with some sense of irony intended), thinking it would be moved to the appropriate forum.
Flaystus (mod) made a joke about it and then a yellow was issued.
I'm sorry to keep repeating myself but this specific thread has only made me speak out about this issue...
...again, I've felt there are some inconsistencies in the issue of card's, that's all and to be honest you've (in the main) already answered my question.
There are things that are dealt with privately before the regular members even see them

Vitualis obviously thought his offense was more blatant than you did, and perhaps he was mistaken. Obviously he thought it was posted with an intent to highjack the thread, in a forum which had absolutely nothing to do with his problem.
My theory is that, having only 4 posts even as of now, he was unfamiliar with the board and acidentally hit the "report this post" button rather than the "post reply" button. In any case, I can absolutely guarantee that if he had contacted Baldrick or Vitualis and explained that it was an honest mistake, that the warning would have been removed immediately.
As far as I can see, this is completely an isolated incident, and obviously it affected this user so little that he either didn't bother to contest the warning, or in all liklihood never even returned to the forum to notice it. If a situation like this happens to you, talk to us in private and we will clear it up. If it happens to another person, perhaps again bring it to our attention in private, or just let the user take care of it themselves. If you notice widespread mistakes than sure start a thread on it, but come on one or two misunderstandings here and there is nothing to complain about because those are the instances that will be taken care of in private one-a-one on one basis between the user and the moderator. -
Will, your posts keep creeping in as I'm typing mine. Alot of what I said is now out of context.

It should be pretty clear that when you post in the "complaints" thread, that you shouldn't be posting a random question in it... hence the warning. It was the "epitome" of hijacking. You won't get a yellow card for posting a question in the wrong forum (e.g., burning in the authoring section or something). But you may get one if it is an obvious attempt at hijacking a thread. That has been in the AUP since it was first written.
If the original poster simply made a mistake and clicked the wrong button, I'll be happy to remove the warning if he (or she) contacted me. I have not been contacted.
Since yellow cards are no longer visible to ordinary members (mods only - you can see your own yellow cards too), I don't believe that there is a "stain". Rather, it is a clear reminder to any new member that gets one that they have to follow the rules, which I think are pretty fair.
There is probably some inconsistency between the issuing of yellow cards between mods. This is simply because we aren't robots and don't all think in the same way. We are simply trying to implement and interpret what is in the AUP. If you feel that any particularly decision isn't "fair" then let us know and we (the mods) can discuss it as a group.

Edit: Yes, I can edit my post. Have u removed the yellow card? Also don't see any yellow card anywhere. Wasn't that how it was supposed to be? I mean, the person issued to, saw a yellow card or something below the avatar?*** My computer can beat me at chess, but is no match when it comes to kick-boxing. *** -
