  1. I keep reading about all these mail in rebates and such like but they only appear to be in the US. How does it all work and why arent they available over here in the UK. Why do the companies offer them? I suspect they cant be offered over here due to some strange legal doodad. But it seems a strange way of doing business, instead of just offering a lower price in the first place??

  4. It is a strange way of doing business and I wish manufacturers would offer the discount to the retailers so we get the discount at purchase. If enough consumers here in the US would complain to the BBB www.bbb.com and to the retailers maybe the manufacturers will get the message.

BTW..I've received checks on 50% of what I've submitted and now I only order computer hardware and media online so I don't have to hassle with that nonsense.

I just read the terms on 2 rebates I have.
The one for the 160 gig Max HD says US and Canada.
Another, for 128 meg Smart Media card ( Digicam ) US only. This is for 20 back on card that was 45 on sale, so even if I don't get it, the price is fairly low on the card.
I needed a second since I learned to use the cam to take 33 second movies ( Low res ) of my newest grandson. Takes 10 meg per movie.
Also makes a very handy dandy file transfer device, albeit USB 1 speed, unless I get another reader, USB 2.

Who keeps shafting you, is it all the same company? I've sent in dozens of rebates and I think every single one of them has come in.

Different companies have shafted me I/O Magic,Fuji,HP,BUSlink and others I can't remember.I have written and e-mailed but I got no response and I even complained to the BBB.The only rebates that I've received 100% are retail store rebates from Best Buy,CompUSA and Circuit City.
I'm glad you received all of your rebates you are very lucky.
