When i use any program that uses the standard VFW compression dialog and i try to compres directly from my webcam the MPEG codec (and almost all other codecs) ignores the datarate (BPS) settings.
In virtual dub the codec does obey the data rate setting if i don't use the "compres (compatibilty)" menu item but the "compres" menu item. The reason i need the standard VFW (video for windows) dialog to work is that i am forced to use this dialog too in the program i'm developing (in VB6 -> the AVPhone control from banasoft.net).
Since the control doesn't obey the data rate my network (16 KB/sec) is overloaded and i get very poor image quality.
