also the first time I tried to play it, my DVD player read something like
"not in the right area to play"(not sure on exact wording), and it hasn't said that since.

if you live in the u.s. select NTSC

i don't know if that is related to your problem but it sounds like it is

seems like lots of ppl saying sony is very, very picky about DVD media...

There is also an inconsistency in its play of DVD+Rs. I have tried 3 Memorex DVD+Rs and only 1 worked (although all 3 play just fine on my computer). I also tried 1 Sony DVD+R and it did play fine.
Well DVD+R does work, but it seems only on memorex 2.4x. Verbatim and fuji doesn't seem to work. I've tried to make a DVD-VCD on the Memorex but it wouldn't recognize it. I doubt DVD-SVCd will work also. To recap

    DVD+R works with
    Memorex 2.4x

    DVD+R doesn't work with
    Fuji 2.4x

    Verbatim 4x
This player did fine on DVD-R and DVD+RW. No +R support.

  3. btw,

did you use nero burning rom or nero express???

because it seems your player only supports UDF 1.02..

may wanna follow this guide on how to burn w/ nero: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127624

  4. First off I bought some Verbatim DVD+Rs( I assume they're memorex though it doesn't say it on this box) and tried to burn my dvd, it works in my computer(though there isn't any menu that I can see), but still doesn't work in my player.

These DVDs say that they are 1x to 4x (is that what was meant be 2.4x)
I think that maybe I need to follow the directions that you gave me about NERO, but I'm still trying to make sure that everything is okay.

Do you think I should try another method of burning? maybe?

  5. @bluto,

some ppl say that your dvd player doesn't even support DVD+R at all....while others say that it only plays a few DVD+R....i'm not sure which one is correct...

    ........

however, those same ppl said that your player supports DVD-R and DVD+RW...you may wanna try those formats if you can....

  6. I think I can make a DDVD+RW, do you know what kind of DVD Brand I could use. I only have a FujiFilm DVD+RW.

    As far as I know I can't make a DVD-R, but I'm not sure

  7. I passed my first DVD+R to a friend(fujifilm) who tried it on his players.
First he tried it on his sony (not sure what model) and he had the same proble that I did. Then he tried it on his Toshiba, and he said the picture was split in half( kind of like a messed up tape), I understand that certain discs run different (or don't run) in certain players, but is it possible that I messed up a step in making the DVD?

  8. I'm considering writing this movie on some Sony CD-Rs, and giving up the DVD+R(for a while anyway), what would I have to do? could I just burn it on CDs or would I have to re-format?

  9. i don't know about toshibas or sonys...

    -------

did you try the DVD in your PC??? was it able to play in any PC???

  10. It seemed to play in my PC just fine.

in that case, it could just be the dvd players not liking the DVD media...

if you have the exact brand and model, you can look up your friend's dvd players here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

and find out if they support DVD+R....

    ---------

btw, if you're still using Nero to burn...you may wanna make sure you follow this guide...because nero may burn your DVD as UDF 1.05...which is not that compatible with DVD players...

your best shot is to burn in nero with UDF 1.02...so you need to read this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127624

  12. I've been burning with Nero Express 5.5.10.42 does it have the same problems? I can't even see a way to change anything through it.

  13. How could I change the UDF on Nero(The guide doesn't seem to match my Nero), and how can I make sure that the disc is recording at 2.4x and not 4x?

  15. I downloaded Nero 6 and tried burning on a memorex at 2.4x(I'm not sure it burnt at that though) and still I get c:13:00.

  16. I read onthe review that Fujifilm DVD+RW worked, so I'm going to try it.
Now which program do I use the Nero guide on, Nero Express or Nero Burning Rom? I guess I really confused on this issue.

BTW I upgraded to Nero 6

Or would you recomend another burnoing program?

  17. the Nero guide only works for nero burning rom (NOT express)

    -------

Nero Express doesn't allow you to change to many settings....

  21. Okay it's been a few days

First I've given out all of my burnt DVDs to friends , so they can check them on thier DVD players
I've gotten two back with no results on 3 different players.

Do you think I may have formatted it wrong?
I'm still waiting on the other two.

Extract the (Centropy) files out so you have the bin's and cue's. Get a copy of svcd2dvd+ will cost you £10.00. You can use the free version but its more work to author ready for burning. Load the bin's in to svcd2dvd set what options you need (none apart form chapters usually) and off it goes and does its stuff. When its finished you have the correct folders ready to load into your burning software. This is how i convert the files to play on dvd players and have had no trouble with them playing.
Seems a lot easier way than what you are trying to do.
btw if you are using nero burn "without multisession" if you want them to play in dvd players...

Are you talking about me going back to scratch?
Because I don't have the original 4 files anymore, I only have one big master file that is edited through TMPGEnc. Can use that?
Or are you talking about a later step?

  26. I just got back from a friends house and tried my Fujifilm DVD+R on his Apex AD-660 and it worked.

I noticed that on the player guide it says
this DVD player has a multi-system PAL/NTSC convert.
Does this mean that my burnt DVD may still be PAL?
    Quote Quote
  27. Does anyone know if my DVD might have been a PAL?
Do most Apex players support PAL?
If it is how can I check it, and what do I need to do differently to make an NTSC disc?
