  1. wait a minute....

are you still trying to JOIN your SVCD files together into 1 big one???

if so, yes...you're joining SVCD files together, so you do need to choose "SuperVideoCD VBR"

    --------

but, what i'm talking now is the converting part...where you take your big SVCD file and convert to DVD. at THIS stage, you need to choose the DVD-NTSC template.

    ---------

so, once you have finished joining your SVCD files into 1 big file, plz read this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm

  2. I had gotten all of the way to the authoring step, but I thought you guys
wanted me to take it back to TMPGEnc.

tmpgenc can JOIN your SVCD files into 1 big file, as well as convert your SVCD into DVD...

tmpgenc has lots of functions....once you have your one big SVCD file, read the last link i posted...the guide should be really simple...

just load your SVCD file into dvd2avi and continue from there.

  4. Pleas try TMPG again and pay attention to using the MPEG-2 template..
and selecting DVD-NTSC compliant (assuming you're a YANK or a NIP)
a warning that the MPEG-2 encoding capaility of TMPG will only last a MONTH should appear at some point.

I'm still unsure about what you mean here, are you talking about TMPGEnc. or it's Authoring program

  5. @bluto,

dcsos is referring to the actual encoding by tmpgenc...the authoring comes AFTER you have converted your SVCD to DVD. you first need to do the conversion...and that requires tmpgenc to encode the SVCD MPEG-2 into DVD compliant MPEG-2.

in tmpgenc, you can load pre-set templates with settings already selected for you...you need to open up the DVD-NTSC template.

i think if you read this guide it'll clear things up a little bit: https://www.videohelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm

  6. my search won't find dvd2avi.vfp
    Quote Quote
  7. you mean this??? http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_download.html

this link is on the guide i linked earlier
    Quote Quote
  8. Okay I think I've got most of the preparation done
I copied DVD2avi.exe and .vfp, along with my TMPGEnc. to a folder in
My Documents. But I still don't understand the "VFAPI plug-in for TMPGEnc.", I clicked on the link and it just brought me to the TMPGEnc. 2.5 download page.
    Quote Quote
  9. could be the vfapi file comes with tmpgenc

  10. I ran through all of the steps given, to where I ready for authoring.(I think, I'm still not 100% sure I did this right)
I still can't open this file through TMPGEnc. Authoring program.

I think I did everything how I was supposed to do it but I'm able to open my encoded stream with Quicktime. I remember you saying if I did it right I probably wouldn't be able to watch it through quicktime.

  11. have you created a DVD compliant MPEG-2 (.mpg)???

lots of authoring methods here: https://www.videohelp.com/author

look through the various guides and see which one you like.

  12. I can't seem to find any that work
I have TMPGEnc. Authoring program on my computer and it won't open my mpeg
    Quote Quote
  13. can you play the .mpg on media player???

have you installed either powerDVD or winDVD...they're both software DVD players that come with SVCD MPEG-2 codecs....
    Quote Quote
  14. I can play it on my media player

and No I don't have winDVD or powerDVD
    Quote Quote
  15. Actually I'm sorry I do have winDVD, I thought I just had an option to download it on my computer. But I do have it.

none of them work??? sorry...i find that hard to believe

    -----------

so you used dvd2avi to frameserve into tmpgenc, right??

and you found out from dvd2avi's info box if the source SVCD is FILM or not, right??

then you chose either the DVD NTSC or DVD FILM NTSC template (depending on if the source is FILM or not) in tmpgenc, right???
    Quote Quote
  17. Well some don't work and some I'm having a problem downloading.

And I'm not sure about windvd, it's probably just a sample, I don't know if it has the codec

  18. so you used dvd2avi to frameserve into tmpgenc, right??
    Yes

and you found out from dvd2avi's info box if the source SVCD is FILM or not, right??
    Yes and it was PAL

then you chose either the DVD NTSC or DVD FILM NTSC template (depending on if the source is FILM or not) in tmpgenc, right???
    Yes, I chose DVD-NTSC

The only thing I was unsure about was step 2-3 about the quality, but
    everything else I did.
    Quote Quote
  19. PAL???? the source is PAL???

then you need to choose the DVD PAL template instead of DVD NTSC
    Quote Quote
  20. I may have chosen PAL but I'm not completly sure.
just incase I'll try it again using PAL.

assuming that is the problem, should the video be able to run through TMPGEnc. Auth.?

  21. have you tried this method to author??

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/120013.php

    -------

btw, when you try to load the .mpg into tmpgenc author, what was the error you get??
    Quote Quote
  22. I tried a later version which confused me, because it didn't match at all with the guide
I tried the current version which wouldn't open my file(of course it could have been because I chose NTSC instead of PAL)
and then when I decided to give it one more shot the link stopped working.

I got a window that said:

    Can't load "sfmpgdec"[/quote]

you can't follow the guide exactly..it's just a guide...you may need to find out the best settings for yourself....you need to adapt the guide to your situation

    ----------

but after you re-encode your DVD compliant MPEG-2<---------- make sure

go through ALL the guides for authoring....ppl have been saying Ulead is very easy to use..though not very flexible..but i don't think that's a big concern here...

    https://www.videohelp.com/author

you should be able to get any of the proggies if you search for it....

again, this guide uses FREEWARE: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/120013.php

  24. first off I still can't open my file through TMPGEnc. Auth
I downloaded Ifoedit, I'm trying to use it but when I click on
DVD Author-New DVD-Add title it says that the option isn't implemented yet.

also my encoded file(I used PAL for sure on this one) doesn't have a file type after the name(it is an mpeg though), on this guide it appears like
it might have to be an m2v file.

  25. you need to goto windows explorer options and uncheck the box next to "hide extension for known file types"...

then, you should be able to see the extension (.mpg, etc...)

    ---------

hrm...how about ulead movie factory??? does that work for you?? it's suppose to be really simple.

  26. I actually think I have it
I deleted all of my TMPGEnc. Auth files and then re-downloaded all of them.
I guess it just didn't download the sfmpgdec.dll file the first time.

you need to goto windows explorer options and uncheck the box next to "hide extension for known file types"...

then, you should be able to see the extension (.mpg, etc...)

how do I do that? do I still need to check even though I have already authored it?

I guess I'm ready to burn(assuming everything is right), I was going to try Nero, but am kind of confused as to how to do it, might you know of any links to explain some of it?
    Quote Quote
  27. if you can, try getting nero express.... it's much easier to use than plain old nero...less options to set and easier GUI (at least personally)

    -------

    but, otherwise....

  28. I have Ahead NEro which has Nero Express
Do you know of any guides that can walk me through it?

also does everything sound like it's in working order. You know ready to burn. I just want to be as sure as I can be.
    Quote Quote
  29. nero express is VERY EASY to use....

just open it up...select your DVD burner..then choose DVD VIDEO...

all you need to do is add your DVD files and burn
    Quote Quote
  30. Okay I tried to burn my DVD through nero, everything ran smooth until it was over. I put it into my DVD player and C:13:00 kept displaying on my Player.

    I'm using FujiFilm DVD+R discs
    A Sony DVP S360 player
and Hp DVD Writer n300 (I think I read somewhere that it was DVD+R, if not I have DVD-R discs as well)

also the first time I tried to play it, my DVD player read something like
"not in the right area to play"(not sure on exact wording), and it hasn't said that since.

Do you have any idea of what I might have done wrong?
