  1. About a month ago my brother was in Iraq and I sent him some cds with movies on them. They were in Divx so I also sent him a divx player and codec. Well he installed them on some guys computer and the movies played fine, but since then he said the guys players wont play his dvds. I walked him through uninstalling the player and it still dosent work. He says that all of the player just lock up. Real, Microsoft and even WinDVD. The guy is pretty pissed and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what went wrong. I also sent a Nimo Codec pack and I think he installed that too. Both of which has been uninstalled. But there are still problems.

I dont know what kind of computer it is, and for that matter I'm not even sure what OS it is. I'm pretty sure its Xp, if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

  2. Which DiVx program did you send him? Sometimes DivX comes with some real shady adware and codecs that can mess with your system. Try looking in the system tools and see what wierd codecs DiVx have been installed.

Also... CODEC PACKS ARE THE DEVIL.

Odds are the crap that Nimo installed can never be gotten rid of entirely.

If the guy has xp, then he should try using the resore point feature. The resore point function is crap, but it probabally will work.

Code paks are OK if they are the right ones. I forgot which one I use, but will look when I get home.

Nimo is not the best, and yes, it can screw up a system. Not permanently of course.
