  1. Hi all,

    I am in the middle of making my first dvd from a vcd. I have got to the stage where I need to convert my large mpeg file into a DVD format. I tried to use Main concept but couldnt find a download.

    Does anybody have a good link to a guide showing another encoder, once i have done this i can burn it but i need help first.

    thanks

  2. 1) are you trying to convert your VCD to a DVD compliant MPEG-2 so you can make a standard, compliant DVD?

    or

    2) are you trying to burn your VCD onto a DVD without converting (i.e. VCD-DVD)??? this doesn't require you to re-encode, but the compatibility goes down.

  3. Hi Poopyhead,

    Thanks for the response.

    I really want to make DVD-Video. From what i can gather this is the best version to make.

    Do you have any dummy guides that i could follow to do this. Basically i want to go from 2 VCD disks to DVD. I have tried a TMPGenc program to join the files but i cant get it to work. any other ideas what i can use to join and then encode to dvd compliant format?

    thanks

  5. did you follow the first link i gave you??

    http://ness888.users.btopenworld.com/fromvcd2dvd.htm

    it's pretty self explanatory

    -----

    @tyders,

    how does tmpgenc not work in joining your VCD files??? can you be more specifc. the guide i linked to is pretty clear on how to join the files using tmpgenc's MPEG tools

    --------

    if you would rather use tmpgenc to encode to DVD compliant MPEG-2, try these guides..they're not specifically for VCD->DVD, but you should be able to adapt them to your needs.
