I have noticed that, recently, on muti-segmented files uploaded to binary Usenet groups, they are starting to use PAR2 files for missing segment recovery instead of the usual PAR files. It is suppose to be more efficient and requires the use of a little utility called Quickpar (windows only) (http://www.pbclements.co.uk/QuickPar/). I've tried it using virtual PC but it doesn't seem to work. When I try to open one of the PAR2 files, Quickpar starts up and then just sits there, saying I should "choose recovery volume" (ie, PAR2 file).
Has anyone successfully got this thing to work, and if so, how?
Thanks for any enlightenment.

MacParDeluxe handles PAR2 files for restoring, but it cannot create them.
