I'm interested in re-editing a number of my DVDs so that deleted footage is cut back in. For example, I'd like to take my Episode I DVD and restore the scene where Anakin is beating up Greedo.

Is it necessary to convert the VOBs back to mpeg and to demux everything, or is there a tool that that will directly cut and join VOB files when directly ripped from the source disc? I've seen lots of info on this site about working with DV or with mpeg2, but nothing that specifically addresses working with VOB files directly. Is there a primer out there on how to do what I'm suggesting?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I don't think there is such a thing (that works well). The vob file is a mix of streams of data (video, audio, subpics, navigation info). It seems to me if you cut it up, you would really screw it up. I guess mpeg is the same thing with just audio and video. Womble does that. Look for some mpeg editors like womble, honestec, mpeg2cut.

Further more, I believe the chapter navigation would be all messed up on the ifo files. You'd have to fix those. Maybe search too.
