  1. I have been looking at getting a video capture card so I could capture my vhs video's to VCD/DVD.
A lot of you sugguest the ATI AIW Radeon card. Which does look very good. Checked out Lordsmurfs page as I also want to capture cartoons.

I can't really afford much so I was looking at the Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP Capture card.

Can anyone tell me if it is any good. Looks ok to me, but would like some more opinions.

    Thanks

  2. I've been considering the tv2000 xp myself. But from what i've read about it, here on the forum and on various websites, it's not all that i'd want it to be. Seems to me like the only way i could do better than my ATI AIW Radeon would be to get a Canopus AVDC-50/100, but that's too much money for me to spend on capture card atm.

The things i like about the AIW is:

*It works with Virtualdub and all other 3rd-party applications i've tried it with.
*It can capture to any format (haven't tried WMV or RM because i don't care much for those).
*It can capture at pretty much any resolution.
*My PAL model of the card can capture NTSC material as well (actually the hybrid PAL-60 mode that my VCR outputs when playing NTSC tapes).

I have yet to find a cheaper card that has all these features.

I use it almost a year now to transfer my VHS videos or to record TV shows. I am very satisfied with it, excellent quality, easy to use. Works fine with PowerVCR or iuVCR. I would buy it again.

It is cheap, but remember that you get what you pay for.....

Having said that, I have one and it works perfectly fine....you will need a fairly beefy PC if you want to capture in full screen MPEG2 though as there is no onboard MPEG encoding.....also it is a mono TV card so TV capture will be mono also.

not bad for the price though....

  5. Isn't this card advertised to have on board mpeg and mpeg2 capture?

Also, is there much difference in price from the Leadtek card and the ATI AIW?

It advertises MPEG2 capture (as well as MPEG1 and AVI)....but it is not onboard.

  8. I am using the leadtek tv2000xp deluxe for past three months. I got it for $52 shipped from newegg.com. It works with btwin driver too. I am able to capture TV audio in stereo.

My system is 1.2 GHz atlon and with 1GB Memory. I dont see any frames droppings in MPEG2 capture. This card comes with Ulead VideoStudio 6.0 SE DVD. With VS you can capture it in SVCD format too.Hope this helps

Oh BTW it has FM and cute remote too.

  9. i have the ati aiw 32 meg ddr version...it's really nice..cap everything off the tv signal with no problems...

problems do arise when i try to cap off a vcr...drops frames like you wouldn't believe....i really want an advc-100 but i need a little pushing...don't know if i can justify 250 for that box....

  10. I have te 2000xp but i no longer use it for capture. The tv quality is excellent (better than ATI TV WONDER) and the remote is nice, and the capture quality is also very good - but I had a few issues with audio sync (may be just me). For 50 bucks it is worth it (probably the best in its class), but there are better cards.
