  1. Hi,

Just a quick question. Anyone know of any PC software which can be used to play HDTV mpeg files? Are there any programs that can convert from an HDTV format?

    Cheers,
    feeras

  3. Just to clarify.

WMP9, Zoomplayer, Virtualdub etc does not recognise the HDTV format. I've also tried CCE, Tmpgenc to no avail to even recognise it. Surely, there must be a player/decoder/codec or something that can play these mpg files.

What kind of format is that??????

Where did you get this file?

DVD VOB files are 480p and they play as such in PowerDVD.

you must mean its a .ts or .trp or mpg (transport stream format!) , you have to de-multiplex it to elementary streams and then tmpgenc or main concept will work fine with it ..

This program HERE will convert your transport streams to mpeg2 , BBMUX can extrat the video and ac3 streams .. BBMUX is HERE . BBTOOLS and BBMUX and BBmpeg 's author is now working for Man Concept btw.

You can use virtual dub mpeg2 front end also http://webjory.tripod.com/vb/index.htm#mpeg2download

as for PLAYING any hdtv files -- windvd plays them fine as either transport stream or program stream ... BUT it GREATLY helps to have hardware accelleration (ATI and Nvidia and Matrox Parhella)

there is also another modified virtual dub for hdtv but the link seems down right now ... you can try also virtual dub mod ....

Vegas Video will work with HDTV mpeg files just fine also ... if its a transport stream you have to convert it to a program stream (see above or use mpwg2vcr (wobble))

  12. Perhaps you should try to view the file using Elecard Mpeg2 player (v2.1) from moonlight, it supports Mpeg2 up to HP@HL (High profile/Hi level) which, I believe is the profile used for making those 20MPbs files.... If you just wanna watch them, you should be just fine; if conversion is your goal, then capture ??? (ishhhh) Elecard is tryware and they charge 20$ to register it (it's worth it)

  13. How do you encode HDTV files? They are MPEG-2 right? Well TMPGEnc and the CCE trial both don't support HDTV resolutions.

tmpgenc will encode HDTV mpeg2 just fine . as will main concept ..

you use a different profile (high) and gop pattern and matrix though ..
