  1. I recently bought a NEC ND1100A and have tried to make backups of my movie collection. The problem lies in that I would like to play them on my Initial 9510 portable player. When I burn a DVD+RW, it works with no problems, but I get a "no disc" message when I try a DVD+R. My Panasonic RV 31UK plays both the DVD+R and +RW backups so if its a problem with the Initial player being compatible, I won't worry. But I read somewhere (more than likely on this site) that if a DVD+RW plays in a player, a DVD+R should play and if it doesn't, then you haven't finalized your DVD+R given that a +RW disc does not need to be finalized. Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong with my DVD+Rs?

Oh, by the way I am using the DVD Shrink method and burning with CopytoDVD for my DVD-9s and the DVD Decrypter method for my DVD-5s.

Sorry to break the news to you but I myself have found a couple of Stand alones that infact will play the DVD+RW but will not play the DVD+R
So I believe you will find that it's the player

More common than you might think.

Virtually all Sony DVD players play CD-RW but NOT CD-R, so this is an old common issue translated forward to new media.
