Playing a burned DVD-R

When i Burn an DVD to an DVD-R it does not always play by itself when insert it into a dvd player, does not matter what player.
(they all support DVD-R)

I sometimes have to press play or the menu button.
and sometimes it does not work at all.
but most times it works.

what could be the problem???
What am I doing wrong?
I shrink the dvd9 with dvd shrink and burn it with nero6.
I use UDF1.02.
Burn speed is 4x

My burner is a Sony U10A 4x

It sounds like your players are a little bit fussy about the media - I've come across a few discs which play OK when the DVD player has finally got its focusing sorted out after a couple of reloads.

If you have to press play to make them work occasionally, this is probably reseting the player and making it "look for the disc" again. Try recording the same material onto a different manufacturer's media and see if the problem persists.
