  2. DVD-Lab can create motion chapters, you have to supply the video.

Some of the cookie cutter authoring programs have auto motion menus, but then you lose a lot of options and customization with those as well.

  3. In fact, what I do, is a combination of things.

I use Sonic MyDVD to create the motion menu. This is a sorta brain-dead process, since it doesn't seem to let you specify chapters... so I load the same video once for each chapter. I then simulate the menu, which creates a motion menu in the file system. Then I drag that onto a menu in DVD-Lab, and then add frames around the locations where the individual clips are. Voila!

  4. Yep, these guys are right. Another way of looking at it: since you want another program that can make motion chapter menus, just use Premiere or After Effects (or Vegas Video or a hundred other programs). Make your motion menus and then use them in DVDLab.

You'll get the best of all worlds -- the best DVD authoring product along with a good editor or special effects engine (indeed, Adobe Encore, the $500 DVD authoring solution, recommends using After Effects for your motion menus).

Jeff, how about a short guide on that.
