  1. Hi People,

I'm in the process of capturing my sister's wedding video so as to author onto a DVD and was wanting an idea as to what you all consider is an acceptable # of dropped frames.

So far after an hour of capturing my system has dropped 10 frames (spread out over the hour). Now i realise thats not even half a second of footage (I'm using PAL) but would that be noticeable on the finished product.

FYI - I'm using AVI_IO and am capturing with Huffy at 720x576 on a PIII 1.3GHz Celeron.

Fingers crossed I don't drop too many more frames.

    cheers,

  2. If the 10 frames dropped all at once then it would be noticeable but over the whole hour well thats great you won't notice anything. I set myself a guide of 1 frame every 5mins I consider excellent...but it also depends on the video tape I have found old tapes drop more frames and newer ones hardly any at all ...there are alot of factors as to why your system drops frames ...but 10 frames in an hours would not be able to tell.
How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you either saw some big glitch in the video, or the audio started to get out of sync.

depending on how I capture, I usually drop around 8 frames an hour. I have yet to see an actual effect in the finished video.
