  1. I am trying to back up Monsters, Inc but I keep getting an error in dvddecrypter. Its the 2disc special edition(they all are now arent they? )
    ....
All the times i have tried to rip it the problem happens in this manner:

    I 19:34:28 Decrypting VTS_01_4.VOB... (LBA: 1603531 - 2127602) - KEY: C0 00 00 00 01

The program literally stops reading the disc. No Read errors though. It says 0 read errors with 43 retries...

After a few minutes and the the 47% to 51% mark i get an error message:

    I/O error!
    Device [1:1:0] IDE DVD ROM 16X 2.40 E:
    ScsiStatus 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition
    CDB: 28 00 00 1d f1

    and much more...

I have ripped from this drive already and don't believe there is an hardware problem...Has anyone encountered this? When i hit ignore, it reads a little more then goes back to error...

I may try to rip with my rw drive to see what happens...

  2. BTW: The above problem happens on the VTS_01_4.VOB file everytime.

  3. Are you sure the disc is in good condition? This sounds like a read I/O error. I had a similar problem and it was down to the disc having a scratch on it.

Try using Smartripper instead this could help. Otherwise, just try to manually copy the vob file to you hard drive. If this fails then you definitely have a disc problem.

    Good luck!

  4. I ripped with my rw drive and I finally got it. I think maybe my rom drive isnt as good at reading so that may have been the problem...I will try another rip soon with the rom to check it out. I'll post some results.

Not bad in the way of dust, but a couple of very small scratches were present... And I hadnt thought of trying to play the dvd first...

playing it first helps to unlock the DVD.

  8. OK, i have another problem...I wanted do copy dvd-r to dvd-r but nero won't recognize my burner...It will recognize my rom (artec) and the image recorder, but not my new pioneer 106d. Windows recognizes it so why won't nero?

  9. nero requires registration codes unique to brands...i.e. if you were to insert a registration code for HP, nero will only recognize HP drives...and not any other brand..

otherwise, could be your ASPI...i'm not too knowledgeable about that..so if that is your problem, maybe someone else will elaborate.

  10. I read something about registration codes online today, but I couldnt find anymore info on it...Do you know more about this? The nero home page is awful for information.

nero's trying to prevent ppl from sharing their copies of nero. by making unique registration codes for each brand....someone with a full version of nero registered only recognizing HP brands will not work on someone else's computer who has only Pioneer brand.

  12. You're talking OEM versions...I have a $$$ copy. It should recognize this drive. I am getting really frustrated...

Are there any other dvd-rom to dvd rw copying programs that come close to Nero?

  13. dunno..but perhaps when you registered your copy, they gave you a registration code for your specific brand of burner you had at the time...dunno

    --------

nero EXPRESS seems to be good for burning DVDs...give that a shot...

  14. I'll give that a try. Unless someone knows of a piece of software that is just as good.

  15. Ok just tried express...

It will recognize all of my drives as a source drive but none of them as the destination drive when trying to do a disc to disc copy.

  16. disc to disc copy???

you can't do that for encrypted, commercial DVDs...you need to "rip" them first.

  17. Im sorry I guess I should have specified before...I want to do a disc to disc copy of a dvd-r to dvd-r. I had been told that it could be done. Even if i have to rip first, the program wont recognize my stoopid a$$ drives!!!! its really starting to bug me...I am dl'ing a copy of nero 6 retail to try it out. Hell, I have already bought a copy and it didnt work, so I'll download it. I have 551015. Now I have 6. Nero can byte me if it doesnt work this time!

  18. copy the VIDEO_TS folder from your original DVD-R and then burn that onto a new DVD-R w/ nero (express)
