I am backing up a copy of Final Destination 2. Title 3 and 4 are identical in size. Both are widescreen and have the same sound track. Anyone know which one to backup or it doesn't matter.

i recently did this one as well, but i don't remember seeing this problem
1) does it have both WS and FS feature??
2) if not, what you can do is use winDVD/powerDVD to play each title individually (i.e. sample a vob file from each title) and see which one contains the actual movie...you can do this directly from the DVD..don't need to rip it first. -
Although the movie has 4:3 and 16:9 versions, they are on opposite sides. I am using only the side with the 16:9 version.
I have previewed each title in the DVDShrink preview window and they look identical. On the cover, it says something about a special DVD Rom version as well. Could that be the problem? Perhaps both titles are identical and I really have a non-issue here.
Just strange that they would have 2 titles exactly the same file size, and both widescreen, all on one side.Burn Baby Burn

how about not using DVDshrink to preview...
how about trying what i mentioned with winDVD/powerDVD. -
A lot of dvd's have 2 titles with the same length but with different number of chapters. One title is for the entire movie play and the other is for the scene selection. Depending on what you want to do (copy the scene selection or just copy the movie only) play the movie on a dvd player, look at info and see which title is playing, then just rip that title. Both title refer to the same vob files. Just different pointers.

Thanks Playa. Using the information as supplied by you, I ripped the right files and made a successful movie.
Very much appreciated.Burn Baby Burn

Yes, dual sided DVD-9. On one side it says Widescreen, on the other it says Fullscreen. I ended up ripping the Widescreen version with about 15 chapters including end titles.

actually, someone mentioned FD2 is actually a DVD14..
double-sided...with one side being dual-layered DVD9, while the other side being single-layered DVD5....for a grand total of DVD14 -
@ poopyhead
You are correct the 4:3 version of FD2 fits on a DVDR and the 16:9 versions seems to be DVD-9.
@ Popee
I myself had this same problem and just decided to make a back up of both titles with D21 movie only after running them both through D21 I played them both seem to work just fine but then I figured that the title with the 16 chapters was the one I wanted and the one with 40 chapters was as da_playa explained
Just my 2cents......... -
I believe the two titles you found are 1) the actual movie only and 2)the full movie with New Lines Infinifilm extravaganza, which allows you to access plenty of video- and audio-based content in a variety of ways during the movie. Just a guess.

Yeah, i was puzzled by FD2 when i examined it in IFOedit95.. there are 2 PGC's in the main movie VTS--one has something like 13 chptrs and the other, 14 chps, both identical, otherwise. In the one-click backup apps, they show up as separate titles, i.e., 2 separate versions of the movie, like FS and WS.. ??
I know this to be the case in series/episode discs, whereby, each episode is a separate PGC, but not a single move DVD.
da playa, i'm no expert but i haven't see this before on a single movie DVD.. let's say a single, multi-PGC movie like Attack of the Clones. (or maybe i just really didn't notice it at the time..??).
Again, what's the difference?? So if i ripped the one w/o the scenes selection pointers... i wouldn't have a scene selection menu..or..?? thanks. -
I can't rip mine at the moment but try this. View both titles in PowerDVD or DVDShrink atleast 4m30secs into the movie. One should have a blue bar popup on the bottom of the screen. That would be the one not to burn, it's the infinifilm movie. You should get chapter jump capability on both title.
As far as I know New Line are the only DVD producer that does Infinifilm. And only on a few dvd's(only 7 I believe), so it's no suprise you've never seen this on a non-episode disc. -
For those of you still unsure, the correct version to rip and burn on the widescreen side is is title 3.
