I like to answer posts like this because it took me a long time to find a good solution for multiple vobs on one disc. You can fit the 3hrs on one dvd but you need to:

    - Rip using DVD Decrypter in "File Mode"
    - Use DVD2One to transcode your 1hr episodes down to about 1.4gig/each. This will allow for 3hrs on one DVD.
    - Use TMPGenc Author and choose the "Import DVD" button (NOT the Import File!).

Although this isnt detailed, you can find many guides on this site to walk you through the proggies. Author will allow you to import the DVD files that were transcoded and still keep the chapters intact. It will also allow you to creat a selection menu with thumbnails.

I allowed a couple hundredK of room (1.4gig X 3 = 4.2gig) for the menus but you probably will only be able to use the smaller styles (the "no menu" and "cloud 1 or 2") but it will give you a nice disc that you can easily navigate. Good luck!

  4. This works for me (no menus):

Rip the 3 DVDs into different folders.

Rename the VOBs you want in order like:
    VTS_01_1.VOB , VTS_01_2.VOB ,.... VTS_01_6.VOB , ........

Put (cut-paste) them into the same folder.

IFOEdit----Create IFOs----Open the first VOB (IFO destination same as source).
Wait a little. Now you have the navigation files too.

If it`s larger than 4.37 GB (probably is) then run DVD2one

  5. I have used DVD2SVCD with a DVD template to create separate mpegs for each episode, then you just bring the mpegs into your authoring app and make the menu's. For three videos I'd set the output size to 1400MB each.

    Thayne:

Good gravy, how long does THAT take? And doing it that way you lose chapter marks, menus, EVERYTHING.

    I personally like tompika's solution.

I don't know how long it takes, I get everything set up and run it in a batch over night. I don't care about chapters and set up my own menu's when I do this, which isn't very often.

  10. I tried doing what Tompika said I loaded just the first 2 dvds into DVD Decrpter made 2 separate folders..Then I coped the files and created a new folder
renaming all the VOB files 0-6
Then I opened IFOedit as instructed and created the ifo files..But when I
load then into nero I get a complaince test error? what am I doing wrong?

  11. I suppose you have burned DVDs successfully before so you know how to use Nero or other burner progy.

Sometimes IFOEdit doesn't do a good job with creating the navigation files so I use DVD Fab to correct its job (correct DVD sectors). Takes a second.

After doing this it HAS TO WORK
I'm watching a video (created the same way) right now.
Please check back later if it worked (check the subtitles and audio too)

Look... let's make this ULTRA simple.

    1. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the MOVIES ONLY to one folder for each disc. 10 Minutes per disc. (total 40 minutes)

    2. Use TMPGEnc DVD Author, import each of the movies, and make a big ol' DVD folder (with menu, if desired). (about 20 minutes to a half hour)

    3. If it's bigger than 4.5GB, use DVD Shrink on that DVD folder. (20 minutes to a half hour).

Total time? Hour and a half, to an hour and 45. Not bad at all. No re-encoding. No complex programs. No esoteric options.

  15. I'm glad I could help.

No doubt Tsunami Author is the way to get the job done properly, as Gurm said.
What I explained was just a quick solution for mixing VOBs with no extra needs.

I really don't know why IFOEdit screws up making navigation files.
Also DVDShrink when adding some extra when reauthoring.
Have to correct their job with DVDFab.
    Can anyone explain why?

I'm not familiar with Tsunami Author, is it worth checking out over TMPGEnc DVD Author?
