using nero to make an svcd

I'm a complete newbie, so please forgive me if I get some of the terminology wrong here.
I've read some of the guides about how to convert files to play on a standalone dvd. my dvd supposedly plays cvd and svcd, and I have a dvd burner on my computer. the file I want to burn I want to put onto a cdr first. the file is divx. my question is this. nero can burn svcd, but will it automatically convert the divx file to scvd? or will I have to use the other program, the tmpgce (whatever it's called, too lazy to look it up right now) to convert the file and burn it?

nero has its own encoder, but it's HORRIBLE.
