  1. Hi all-

I am having trouble making a cd with the dvd x copy express program... I have a nice coaster set for the house now though... i have attempted to make backups of a couple of dvd's that I have and so far I havnt had any luck. I am running XP with a pioneer dvr-ao6u writer (dvd+/-r). On another computer I am able to make a perfect backup however on my system I cannot seem to make anything but a coaster. Anyone have an suggestions?!?! I have heard good things about this drive however Im not seeing any of the rewards.....

    Any help would help.. thanks....

  2. I think a few more details on the type failure you're seeing would help.

  3. DVDx Copy Xpress has too many problems. On several full DVD encodes it did not set the region correctly...and The Dvd's did not play on my players. I wouldn't go crazy copying DVD's with it as there are still too many bugs just check out the DVDXcopy forum.

We need more information, but Sony and NEC both utterly dropped the ball with their dual-format burners, I wouldn't expect that Pioneer did any better. I think there's something inherently problematic with those duallies.

  5. I use Copy Xpress all the time on two different computers and it works every time just fine for me. In fact lately I use it the most over other programs because it's so simple. I'm using the original version and never have updated the program so maybe the later versions have some problems.

  6. Im not sure what version I have, but there is no error.. it goes throught the proccess and says it burns complete. when I put it back in the computer the disk is empty, but written.. no info listed at all. when I put it in the dvd player for the tv.. it just says insert a playable disk. The verision of the program works ( on another computer-- same specs / different burner). Being its a dual burner would that cause an issue?? Im at a loss here for what to do.. bought this $300 toy and my lady is making me pay for it since I havnt backed up the kids movies.... gotta fix the problem and quick... before the "i told ya so's" come.. thanks for you response..

I also checked out the xpress message board, but maybe I should post it there as well... thanks again

I was wondering why you say they both dropped the ball,

    I've burned -R 1X & 2X, -RW 2X, +R 2.4 & 4X, & +RW 2.4X on the Sony with no problems, Using Nero mostly, and a few times for data RecordNow Dx...

Both of the disks I've coastered were my fault for doing something stupid...

I Internet, download, e-Mail, View videos, run winrar (Keeping an eye on the burn buffer) and set up to author a DVD while burning and haven't had problems from doing so. I usually have several programs running at the time I'm burning. The Sony works flawlessly so far. Of course I do use mostly name brand media (Maybe 20 + Princo too) but hundreds of Verbatim, TDK, Memoriex, Maxell.

I'm playing around with the Optorite Dual format right now at work and so far they (2) have been OK too.

Which is why I'm asking problematic how?

    Cheers

  9. Hi Scoobeedu

Dont know if this will help but I would suspect your burner just yet, when you say you can make perfect backups on another computer can we assume it is with that drive.
If so would suggest looking at your computer configuration and start there.
It might be worth doing a format to eliminate any gremlins lurking around and do a fresh install then just load the programs you need to burn and go for it.

  10. I already re-installed everything and started from a clean slate. I also ran scans on the computer for anything lurking. I just cant keep making coaster at a higher cost. I understand there to be problems with the xpress, but its wierd that one computer doesnt have any problems and the other does. so we went and returned the drive thinking that it could be something wrong with it and we still are having the same problem. the burner didnt come with any driver or anything, however windows xp put a generic driver for the burner. could that have something to do with it... thanks for your help everyone.
