I just captured via firewire some DV I filmed and I want to get some still-shot pictures from the file I captured?
What software is available to do this with? I want to get the best quality shots I can. I still have the video in avi format and figured it would give me the best pictures in this format.. Am I correct?

Thanks for the suggestion Moviegeek. I have powerdvd and tried it and also tried the freeware you recommended.
Both gave me terribly interlaced-looking stills. I tried pausing the video and shooting and just shooting on the fly and got the same results.
Thanks again for the help. Does anyone have more ideas? -
Try this guide:

You need to deinterlace the captured image with an image editing program. I use PaintShopPro 7. You can select odd or even field and check out each beforehand. You'll be surprised how different each choice looks from the other. Just pick your preference and apply and save.
