    Anyone got any ideas?
    thanks

  2. Seems like you're trying to convert a VOB file with "Decode with quicktime" option enabled and without the Apple Quicktime MPEG-2 playback component installed.

ok now is there a way for me to encode it to a SVCD and not have to spend 20 bucks for a component? How can I make it so that I don't use decode with quicktime?

  4. Disable the "Decode with Quicktime" checkbox. As a third option, enable the "Decode with mplayer" checkbox.

    Where are these checkboxes?

Sorry for being such a pain. i got the encoding thing figured out but I am trying to encode it as 2 SVCD's and I told it to do it that way. Yet it seems to only encode it as one large file? How can I make it split up the movie into 2 segments?
    thanks again

  7. Select the big mpg file in the first "Browse" field in the Tools tab, select "split in 2 chunks", "author as SVCD" and click "Author".

ok I did what you said it came up with a window that said "finished", but where are the 2 files? they are not in the folder that the original one was in.

  9. They should be in the same folder. Make sure there are no spaces or special characters in your paths.

Which video codec should I be using to encode an SVCD?

  11. You should select mpeg-2. Choose one of the "Quick presets" as they'll automatically set all options for you.

  13. This is because the preset uses by default "QT decode", and you don't have the QT plugin installed. So just after selecting the preset, do what suggested previously, then launch the encode.

  15. Make sure there are no spaces or special characters in your paths. I can see a space in your folder "(Z)ipped DVDs".

ok I got the encoding done but I seem to have two seperate files one for the audio and one for the video. I am curious how I can get the audio to be incorportaed with the video.

  17. The process of combining video and audio is called muxing. Normally this is done automatically at the end of the encoding. Or you can use the mux tool in the Tools tab of ffmpegX.
