  1. Once I have the full downloaded movie, on my hard drive (usually an AVI file), this is what I do...
First, I open the movie in Vdub mp3freeze.exe and I split the movie into 2 parts... CD 1 and CD 2. Each of these files is an AVI file. Then, I open each file in Nero and burn it to a cdr... Nero encodes it for me so it takes like 1 hour or more to encode and burn each CD which I can then play in my stand alone dvd player.

So, if I download a movie that is one file, I end up with 2 cds... if I download a movie which is in 2 parts, I end up with 4 cds...

Most of the movies I download are xvid or divx and most of them are approximately 700,000 kb. Does it matter how many minutes the original movie file is?

One problem which I have solved was upside down playback... now I choose the option in ffdshow to flip the video, and the playback is no longer upside down.
I also had tried TMPGENC but my audio/video was not in sync (actually cd1 was not too bad but cd 2 was horrible)

I have tried reading as many posts as I could about what I am trying to do but now the more I read, the more confused I get.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's the only thing that matters. it doesn't matter if the original is 700 mb or 5 gigs.

  3. thanks for ur reply.

so what u are saying is that if the avi movie that I download is more than 80 minutes there is no way that it can be put on just 1 cdr?

are there any work-arounds to this problem?

is the method i am using ok? i had tried tmpgenc a few times and besides getting the out of sync problem i also had to create a wav file along with the avi file and then create an mpeg as the output file. not sure if my method is any better or worse, but i guess the fact that it works is what counts... i am just not happy that each movie that i have is on 2 cds........

you can fit more than 80 minutes but then it is not a vcd. that is called an xvcd. you can fit more by lowering the bitrate, but quality does go down. you can also try kwag's templates at www.kvcd.net to try to get the most out of your encodes.
